"Collage Cuisine" is an educational art installation commissioned by the Museum of Arts Saint Gall with a mission to engage and inspire a younger audience in the realm of art. The project arose from a fundamental question that is present in a lot of art museums today: How can we ignite the passion for various art forms and facilitate meaningful interactions with the museum's collection among the youth? As the museum rearranged its permanent collection exhibition, it set out to create a dedicated space where younger visitors could find their creativity and forge deeper connections with the displayed artworks on another level. Knowing that they would like to have a interactive installation as the beating heart of this space the museum reached out to me, drawing upon past collaborations.

After several months of collaborative ideation, my colleague and I created a functional installation that seamlessly integrated into the ongoing exhibition since September 2023. Currently, we're refining an enhanced version based on our learnings, ensuring "Collage Cuisine" remains a fixture in future exhibitions. At the heart of the installation lies a simple yet captivating concept: visitors can curate their own unique collages using a variety of elements from the museum's collection. This creative process unfolds through an interface reminding of analog devices, like modular synthesizers, enhancing engagement and offering a tactile experience. Our decision to steer away from touchscreen technology underscores our commitment to providing a more hands-on interaction.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this project is its longevity. Anticipating the need for sustained relevance, we factored this into the project's conception and design phase. This prolonged engagement offers invaluable opportunities for continuous learning and experiential growth, enriching our insights in ways that shorter projects simply cannot match.
